In my journey to find happiness, the best decision I made was to practice smiling. I had been in a very dark place in my life. I lost myself and I forgot who I was. I woke up and went to brush my teeth and realized that I didn’t smile anymore. I looked at my reflection and smiled. It felt awkward. I got ready for work and in the car on the way I practiced smiling. I practiced smiling all week. After that I decided to share my smile with other people. I found that it helps to share a smile with a stranger. It made me feel good and sometimes that stranger needed that smile more than me. So I kept adding things to my smiling culture. Find things that make me smile, do things that make me smile. Before I knew it I became happier and learned to smile. Now I try my best and smile at others because it doesn’t cost a dime and makes everyone feel good inside.
You know, this is so true. I’ve been doing this for a long time (I think just naturally happened). I try to smile at strangers that I encounter in my everyday life. Some smile back, some say hello, and some just don’t acknowledge it. But, it definitely feels good to smile. You never know what a smile can do for someone else’s life that day or even your own.
