I feel my depression creeping in on me and my sensitivity has been oh high. I keep doing what I can to not let those negative feelings dominate my life. I’m writing this post to show everyone that even though one strives to live a positive lifestyle there are moments where we aren’t so positive. What can I do to get out of this funk? Time to do some research.

How am I doing physically?
~Have I been sleeping well? No I haven’t. Between getting woken up from my sleep by my husband, having different body aches and pains, and some insomnia, my sleeping habits are chaotic.
~Am I eating well and keeping my blood sugars stable? Nope. I have been eating too much junk. At home and at work, we’ve eaten out a lot this past week. Then it was my sisters anniversary dinner and you know how that goes.
~Could I be Vitamin D deficient? Yes. I just had some blood work done and my Dr. told me to start taking supplements.

Acknowledge My feelings.
This is something that I strongly agree with. I like to give myself time to feel what I feel. If that makes any sense. If I feel like crying I cry. If I want to complain I call someone I can rely on.

Acknowledging negative emotions is not the same as indulging them. Our feelings are there to help us understand and explore the situation better. Don’t let them run you over; allow them to guide you. Whatever the feeling, it is completely worth the time and energy to spend a little longer defining it more specifically. Remember that specifics are more manageable than vague feelings. Do not be afraid to identify whatever it is that you are angry, sad, scared, or frustrated about. These feelings are valid and need to be acknowledged before they can then be released. If you are struggling to identify your feelings, consider talking with a friend or a therapist to help bring some clarity to what you are experiencing.

Now it’s time to feel better.
I need to take to art and get creative. In my case, in form of this blog post. Writing is a great way for me to express myself and let my frustrations out. Other people take to other art forms such as painting, sculpting, building or music. In my research, I found other options to help boost me up.

  • Physical activity ~ I found this low impact video that is focused on your core, being grounded and balanced. I will be taking walks and or being active for 10 to 15 minutes each day.
  • Declutter ~ I need to part ways with what is uselessly taking up space in my house. Channeling my energy to make my home neat and clean can make me feel good about myself and my home and also make lots of space in my closet for something new. Heehee!
  • Good Deeds ~ If I help someone it would make someone happy and in turn make me happy. It shows me that i am not alone in this world and I could make a small difference. Spread kindness.
  • Have Fun ~ this one is obvious. If I am having fun there’s no room to be in my feelings. Smiling and laughing is good for my soul!

Well my friends as always, thank you for listening to me. Remember positivity is a lifestyle! Let me know what things help you shake of the blues…
